BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 2. Uzbekistan’s Uzavtosanoat and German-Chinese KS Huayu AluTech Group have discussed prospects of organizing the joint production of aluminum engine parts in Uzbekistan, Trend reports via Uzbek media.

The matter was discussed within the framework of the German-Uzbek business forum, held in Berlin on March 1, between the Uzbek delegation, headed by the country’s Prime Minister, and representatives of Uzavtosanoat JSC with Managing Directors of the German-Chinese company.

The cost of the aluminum cylinder blocks production project on a full cycle amounted to $27 million. An additional 1,540 sq.m will be allocated to UzAuto Motors Powertrain to organize a modern foundry and a high-precision parts processing workshop with a production capacity of 190,000 tons per year.

The organization of casting aluminum cylinder blocks to these engines with their further high-precision processing will create a solid base for improving the competitiveness of Uzbek products, and reduce import substitution by $ 24.7 million, and the cost of production by $ 4.7 million.

Earlier in February, the press secretary of Uzavtosanoat JSC Zumrad Shadjalilova told Trend, Uzbekistan’s UzAuto Motors and Azerbaijan's Azermash vehicle production plant are looking to increase joint manufacturing of Chevrolet cars.

According to Shadjalilova, UzAuto jointly with Azermash launched SKD (semi-knocked-down) production of Chevrolet cars in Azerbaijan’s Hajigabul region, on September 17, 2021. In 2023, car manufacturers of both countries have set the task of increasing production up to 5,000 cars by transferring from SKD to a full production cycle.
