Uzbek Central Bank sees increase in value of loans issued to individuals

BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 28. The value of loans issued to individuals in Uzbekistan, as of the beginning of March, reached 105.1 trillion soums ($9.2 billion), Trend reports via Uzbekistan’s Central Bank (CBU).

According to the CBU, the value of loans issued to individuals has increased by 48.1 percent, compared to the figure for March 1, 2022 (70.9 trillion soums or $6.2 billion).

From the total value of loans issued to individuals in the corresponding period, mortgage loans accounted for 47.6 trillion soums ($4.1 billion), consumer loans – 25.5 trillion soums ($2.2 billion), microloans – 15.3 trillion soums ($1.3 billion), loans for business development - 14.1 trillion soums ($1.2 billion), etc.

The bank notes that the value of education loans increased by almost 6 times from 402 billion soums ($35.2 million) up to 2.3 trillion soums or $208.7 million year-on-year.

At the same time, the value of loans issued to legal entities as of March 1, 2023, reached 292.4 trillion soums ($25.6 billion).

Meanwhile, the value of loans issued to individuals in Uzbekistan, as of the beginning of February, reached 102.2 trillion soums ($8.9 billion). From the total value of loans issued to individuals, banks with the participation of the state share issued some 73.1 trillion soums ($6.3 billion), while commercial banks – 29.097 trillion soums or $2.5 billion.
