BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 5. Uzbekistan's first regional airline, Silk Avia, has transported over 12,000 passengers since April, Trend reports.
As Uzbekistan Airports JSC reported, Silk Avia has launched flights to various cities throughout the country. The airline operated its first commercial flight on the Tashkent-Samarkand route on April 25, 2023.
In the first month of operation, the airline covered 10 routes and transported over 12,000 passengers on 330 flights. The average commercial load factor per flight exceeded 60 percent, which is a high indicator for the airline's first month of operation. The three ATR-72 600 aircraft accumulated a total of 322 flight hours.
Among Silk Avia's passengers, the majority are citizens of Uzbekistan. Additionally, citizens of Russia, Israel, Kazakhstan, and Turkey were among the top five nationalities traveling with the airline.
Starting from June 1st, the airline has launched flights to new destinations. Silk Avia now connects Tashkent with Fergana and Nukus, and also operates flights from Fergana to Urgench, Bukhara, and Navoi.
