TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, July 14. A solar photovoltaic station with a capacity of 1.2 MW has been successfully commissioned at Mubarek thermal power plant (TPP) in Uzbekistan, Trend reports.

According to the Uzbek Ministry of Energy, the purpose of the solar photovoltaic station is to meet the growing demands of the thermal plant. The solar power station spans an area of 1.3 hectares and is equipped with over 1,780 solar panels.

The commissioning of this solar power station will contribute to an additional 2.7 million kWh of electricity annually. This sustainable energy generation will lead to significant savings, eliminating the consumption of 500,000 cubic meters of natural gas per year.

Earlier, Uzbekistan commissioned a solar PV power station with a capacity of 1 MW at the Turakurgan TPP, which is a 900 MW gas-fired power project located in the Namangan region of the country.

Overall, Uzbekistan plans to expand the number of solar panels installed on buildings and structures of social facilities and economic entities. The solar panels with a capacity of 220 MW will be installed at social facilities and government departments, at enterprises – at 1300 MW, and newly built apartment buildings – at 15 MW.
