TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, July 26. The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and Uzbekistan agreed to enhance mutually beneficial cooperation and implement prospective ecology projects, Trend reports.
This agreement was reached following the meeting held between Uzbekistan's Minister of Ecology, Environmental Protection, and Climate Change, Aziz Abdurakhimov, and the Managing Director of the EBRD for Central Asia, Zsuzsanna Hargitai.
During the meeting, the projects implemented in collaboration with the EBRD were discussed, focusing on waste management and increasing the investment potential in this area. The parties also emphasized the importance of developing the technical-economic base and implementing promising waste management projects.
Furthermore, the significance of expanding mutual cooperation in the field of green energy and developing strategically important programs to combat climate change was highlighted.
The EBRD's portfolio in Uzbekistan includes 16 completed projects with a total value of 391.3 million euros, covering areas such as water and sanitation, energy, district heating, transport, and small and medium business support.
