TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, March 4. Uzbekistan and Arab Coordination Group (ACG) have discussed implementation of current joint projects in economy with the participation of organizations that are members of the ACG and identify new promising initiatives in economy's priority sectors, Trend reports.
The discussion took place during the round table of the Arab Coordination Group (ACG) in Tashkent where Uzbekistan's minister of investment, industry and trade Laziz Kudratov took part.
The event was also attended by the leadership of the International Islamic Trade and Finance Corporation, Islamic Development Bank, Saudi Fund for Development, Abu Dhabi Fund for Development, Kuwait Fund for Economic Development, as well as heads of ministries and departments of Uzbekistan.
The minister Laziz Kudratov expressed gratitude to ACG for the contribution made in support of social and economic development of Uzbekistan. In particular, to date more than 40 projects have been realized, 21 are under implementation and 8 are under development. The ACG round tables in Tashkent were held earlier - in 2014 and 2018, which contributed to the expansion of interaction and implementation of the most important projects of the country.
A total of 20 new promising projects were presented by ministries and agencies in the spheres of transportation, logistics, tourism, water supply, health care, education and support of small and medium-sized business projects.
Representatives of the Arab Coordination Group delegation - heads of the ACG structures, in their turn, expressed readiness for their more detailed study at the expert level and subsequent implementation.
In accordance with the agenda of the round table, the projects implemented by the UN Multi-partner Trust Fund for Human Security for the Aral Sea region in Uzbekistan to improve the environmental situation and living conditions in the region were considered. Representatives of the Arab Coordination Group were invited to participate in the projects. The ACG delegation expressed its commitment to solving urgent environmental problems and expressed readiness to support socially important initiatives of Uzbekistan.
Within the framework of the meeting, the ACG delegation was also invited to take part in the upcoming Tashkent International Investment Forum, organized on May 2-3 and the annual meeting of AIIB on September 25-26 this year in Samarkand.
Following the results of the meeting, the parties signed the Final Protocol of the Round Table meeting, including the list of promising projects and readiness for further cooperation within the framework of realization of promising projects and assistance in implementation of projects in the Aral Sea region.
