Iran Materials 1 February 2011 13:19 (UTC +04:00)

Iran Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast told that the door of talks with Iran was still open for the west and the West must have closer cooperation with the Islamic Republic of Iran, ILNA reported.

At his weekly press conference on Tuesday he urged for efforts to reach common points in the talks.

Mehmanparast said the illegal and unilateral sanctions imposed by certain countries including the US and the EU member states against the Iranian nation and some Iranian officials are wrong and futile.

Amid the latest developments in the Middle East and North Africa, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast says regional uprisings will cut the interests of arrogant powers.

"The waves of popular currents in certain countries in the Middle East and North Africa are aimed at achieving independence of arrogant powers and will definitely cut the interests of such powers," Mehmanparast

The spokesperson added that the West was bewildered by the ongoing regional uprisings, saying, "Western countries are saddened by the situation, leading them to make contradictory comments."

Mehmanparast warned against the West's plan to deviate the popular currents emanating from the "Islamic vigilance" and said, "However, regional nations are vigilant and closely monitoring moves by Western countries."

"These moves will not be deviated and efforts by Western politicians will produce no outcome," the Iranian spokesman reiterated.
