Police arrested 250 criminals in a special operation conducted in the early hours of Sunday morning, MNA reported.
The operation, which was part of the "neighborhood-based security plan," was implemented in 250 neighborhoods of the capital to deal firmly with criminals, Colonel Mohsen Khancherli, chairman of crime prevention department of Tehran Police, told reporters.
The criminals, of whom 15 percent were high profile offenders, had committed crimes like hooliganism, brawling, distributing illicit drugs, mugging, and brandishing bowie knives, Khancherli said.
He also said that the police have the full cooperation of the Judiciary in the implementation of the neighborhood-based security plan.
