There cannot be any political, economic or security stability in the region without Iran, Islamic Republic Supreme Leader's chief advisor Seyed Yahya Safavi said in an interview with Fars news agency.

Safavi added that Iran being the heart of the region, has the decisive importance in these issues.

Safavi gave the interview on the occasion of upcoming May 23 date of Iran's liberation of Khorramshahr city during the 8-year Iran-Iraq war.

Advisor said Iran has become a significant power in the region after the war with Iraq. He noted that Iran's military strength has increased, since if during the war Iran's strongest weapon was a cannon, then now the Islamic Republic posesses ballistic missiles.

"Iran's coastline goes for 2000 kilometers from Persian Gulf up to Gulf of Oman. Some 63-65 percent of world's energy goes through Persian Gulf, and anyone who wants to use energy from this region, have to deal with the Islamic Republic," Safavi said.

Safavi noted that Iran is a strong world energy supplier, and in terms of energy security the Islamic Republic simply cannot be ignored.
