Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has called the parliament (Majlis) lawmakers not to amend the national elections law, as it is against the Constitutional Law, the Mehr News Agency reported.

On Sunday the Majlis approved general outlines of a bill to modify the national elections law.

According to the bill, nominees for the presidential post should be 45-75 years of age and are required to have a master's degree. Moreover, the nominees should be authorized by 100 distinguished political figures.

Ahmadinejad said the president is elected by people's direct vote and being authorized by 100 political figures is against the election laws and presidency prestige.
