EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT RECOMMENDS TURKEY TO ACKNOWLEDGE ARMENIAN GENOCIDE
The European Parliament delayed consideration of the Turkish membership to the European Union and adopted a resolution urging Turkey to acknowledge Armenian genocide during the meeting in large on 28 September. The proposal on delaying of consideration was supported by 311 parliamentarians and rejected by 285.
However, the second proposal on the resolution was supported by majority.
It should be mentioned that the decisions of European parliament were not obligatory, but of recommendation character.
