(IRNA) - The Islamic Republic of Iran will continue supporting the Palestinian nation and its rights, said Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki here on Tuesday.
"The Islamic Republic of Iran will stand by the Arab states, that had in their recent Cairo session stressed support for the Palestinian nation. Tehran is determined to back the Palestinian people and their undeniable rights," said Mottaki at a joint press conference with his Palestinian counterpart al-Zahar.
Mottaki said full support for the Palestinian people and their resistance is the heavy duty of all Muslim and Arab states and the international organizations.
He said Iran in the Saturday meeting of foreign ministers of Muslim states in Jeddah would reiterate support for the Palestinian nation, reports Trend.
He added that the OIC foreign ministers should place on their agenda investigation of reasons for failure of the US bullying policy and unilateralism.
The minister said that he and his Palestinian counterpart had in their today's meeting strongly condemned recent crimes of Zionist regime of Israel in Palestine after the entity's defeat in Lebanon.
"We believe that the Zionist regime will not be able to survive by committing such crimes."
Al-Zahar for his part thanked Iran for its unsparing political and financial support for the National Unity Government of Palestine and said Hamas will hold the majority of seats in the cabinet.
He said Hamas will also have major representation in the Palestinian Legislation Council.
He hailed recent Cairo meeting of Arab states and said the participants had harshly criticized the US for supporting the Zionist regime.
