German BASF’s Wintershall oil and gas exploration subsidiary has submitted its study results on Dehloran oil field’s development to the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC).

The proposal was discussed in a meeting of the NIOC special advisory committee for management of the country’s oil reservoirs, Integrated Planning Department of NIOC said in a statement.

The preliminary plan of the German company is based on materializing NIOC’s targeted oil output in the field and its maintenance, according to the statement.

Wintershall signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the NIOC in April 2017 to carry out studies for development of Dehloran oil field and submit the study results and development proposal to the NIOC.

Dehloran oil field is located 120 kilometers from west of Dezful, Khuzestan Province, and its development project includes major maintenance and remedial treatments on old oil wells, drilling new wells as well as construction of new desalination units.

The field contains 5.2 billion barrels of in-situ oil reserves, with API of 30.

Following the removal of the international sanctions against Tehran in 2016, Iran has handed over the study of several oil and gas fields to foreign companies under non-disclosure agreements (NDA).
