Iran's new government needs to reform policies in auto sector - analyst

TEHRAN, Iran, June 25

Trend:

Iran's new government should make necessary plans to improve the conditions for consumers in the auto sector, said an expert in the sector, Farboud Zaveh, Trend reports via ILNA.

"A producer should be connected to domestic market and consumer should be connected to production," said Zaveh.

He pointed out that if the existing monopoly in the mentioned sector continues to exist, there's no chance for increased profits or economic growth, also considering the limited auto market in Iran.

"For example, if we presumably could sell 1.5 million vehicles it would not be a point to have mass production on economic scale," he said.

"Therefore if we open the market and let consumers use products from any part of the world and give more freedom to producers, the situation will improve," Zaveh said.

He believes the local regulations should change, to prepare the ground for foreign investment and competition in the global market.
