Iran looking to develop renewable energy - SATBA

TEHRAN, Iran, Oct.15

Trend:

Iran seeking to develop renewable energy by credit from the guaranteed purchase of electricity and electricity tax, said the Director-General of the Office of Economic, Social and Environmental Studies at Iran’s Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Organization (SATBA), Trend reports citing IRNA.

The plan is to develop renewable energy power plants to generate 10,000 megawatt electricity by these resources, said Reza Samadi.

Several consortiums are interested in the construction of 2,000 megawatt and 3,000-megawatt renewable power plants.

Renewable power plants require low fuel consumption, and the country's Sixth Development Plan (2016-2021) predicted the share of renewable power plants in generating electricity will increase to five percent.

The country's renewable power plants has generated 904 megawatts of electricity in September.
