TEHRAN, Iran, July 20. Iran and Turkiye signed eight documents and a memorandum of understanding in various fields in the presence of the presidents of the two countries, Trend reports citing Mehr.
Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the President of Turkiye arrived in Tehran on Monday, as the head of a large delegation that included several ministers from his cabinet to attend the seventh meeting of the Iran-Turkey Supreme Cooperation Council, on improving bilateral relations as well as a trilateral summit, so-called “Astana peace process”.
Iran's President Ebrahim Raisi and his Turkish counterpart signed several MoUs including a comprehensive plan for long-term cooperation between Iran and Turkey, an agreement in the fields of social security and sports development, support for small economic enterprises, and radio and television cooperation.
Speaking at the joint press conference Raisi called Erdogan's visit to Iran, a turning point for improving the level of relations between the two countries.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan for his part stated that the country`s goal is to reach a trading volume of $30 billion with Iran.
“Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the volume of trade has decreased significantly, and it has now reached $7 billion,” he said adding that we can boost bilateral trades by taking steps in the field of oil and natural gas.
