Iran counts cell phone imports

BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 25. Around 14.7 million (14,688,580) cell phones worth $3.2 billion were imported to Iran last Iranian year (from March 21, 2023, through March 19, 2024), the statistics of Iran's Customs Administration said, Trend reports.

Compared to the previous year (from March 21, 2022, through March 20, 2023), it decreased by 0.6 percent in value terms and rose by 0.7 percent in quantity terms.

Cell phones were imported into the country in two forms: for commercial purposes and by citizens.

A total of 14.2 million (14,222,306) cell phones worth $2.93 billion were imported into Iran last year for commercial purposes, while 466,000 (466,274) cell phones worth $270 million were imported by citizens.

Meanwhile, in the previous Iranian year (from March 21, 2022, through March 20, 2023), more than 14.3 million cell phones worth about $3.22 billion were imported. About 13.8 million units worth $2.87 billion were imported for commercial purposes, while 550,000 units worth $346 million were imported by citizens.

Iran mainly attaches importance to the import of products needed by the country and imposes certain restrictions on the import of products manufactured in the country.
