TEHRAN, Iran, Nov. 13

Trend:

Iran continues work on the Bushehr-2 nuclear power plant, Spokesman for the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran Behrouz Kamalvandi told Trend.

"About 30 percent of building the plant have been completed," said the official.

"If it takes 8 to 10 years to build a plant, we have already completed one third of the process. So far 220 million pounds has been invested by Iranian companies in the project," he said.

The official went on to add that certain construction work has already been done, including excavation.

"It is expected that the remaining work would be done with equipment made in Iran, but naturally some part of it will be imported, from Russia," Kamalvandi said.

Speaking of the Bushehr-3 nuclear power plant, Kamalvandi said it will be ready somewhere in 2027, and would produce over 3,000 megawatt of energy, which is still far from Iran's demands.
