Population's income
According to the Azerbaijani State Statistics Committee, in January-May 2012, the nominal income of the population totaled 12.358.7 billion manat which is 14.6 percent more as compared to the same period of 2011.
Thus, during this period, the nominal income of the population per capita increased by 13.1 percent and hit 1.352.2 billion manat. The average monthly income per capita was 270.4 manat.
The growth rate of income per capita exceeded the growth in consumer prices by 10.6 percent.

In January-May 2012, Azerbaijani citizens distributed their income worth 12.35 billion manat in following way: 64.6 percent on purchase of goods and services, 9.1 percent - payment of taxes, duties and fees, 2.1 percent - payment of credit, 24.2 percent - capital accumulation.
Real income after the payment of taxes and membership fees made up 11.2 bln manat in Jan.-May or 14.9 percent more than the same period of 2011. Real income per capita made up 1.229.5 bln manat with a growth of 13.3 percent.
Thus, during this period the expenditure in Jan.-May 2012 comprised 9.108.3 bln manat or 3.250.4 billion manat less than the income of population, but 7.2 percent more than the expenses in the same period of 2011. (Source: State Statistics Committee, calculations by Trend).
The gap in the amount of revenues and expenditures of the population in favor of income, testifies to the growth of material well-being of Azerbaijani citizens. The differentiation in population's income and the availability of the Gini coefficient in the country should be taken into account
Salary
The salary is one of the key social and economic indicators, which sufficiently enough characterizes the level of the prosperity of the working part of the population. According to the data provided by the Azerbaijani State Statistics Committee, the amount of average monthly salary in Azerbaijan in January-April 2012 comprised 379.1 manat or 8.4 percent more than the same period of 2011. Taking into account the inflation at an annual rate (2.7 percent), real growth was 5.7 percent, which is 19 times more than GDP growth (+0.3 percent).
The growth hit 0.05 percent in April compared to March. Taking into account the deflation per month (-0.4 percent), the real income of hired employees in April increased by 0.45 percent. Its growth has hit 4.3 percent since early 2012, due to cumulative inflation of 0.1 percent.
Average salary rate as of April exceeded the average cash income per capita per month by 41.9 percent (267.15 manat)
The highest salary was fixed in the mining industry, financial and insurance activity, information and communication, scientific and technological activity, as well as in the construction sector.
According to the State Statistics Committee, about 82,000 people were involved in the Azerbaijani construction sector in Jan.-April 2012. The nominal salary rate in the construction sector amounted to 555.2 manat, which is 8.5 percent more than the same period of 2011. The salary in the state-owned companies amounted to 436.9 manat (with a growth of 17.9 percent per year), private companies - 637.9 manat (with a growth of 1.4 percent).
Nominal salary rate in the large and medium-sized construction companies amounted to 583.1 manat. The level of salary in the construction of buildings per year fell by 0.1 percent to 546.8 manat, specialized construction increased by 18.9 percent - up to 690.3 manat. The salary in the civil construction work increased by 15.5 percent - up to 389.8 manat.
During the period part-time employees' salary in enterprises and organizations of the country amounted to 206.3 manat. The average salary of the persons employed under the contract amounted to 352.9 manat.
Labor market
According to the Azerbaijani State Statistics Committee, as of June 1, 2012, able-bodied citizens in Azerbaijan made up 4,633 including 4.387.1 billion people are involved in different areas.
There are 1.365.9 bln hired people in Jan.-May. About 847,600 people work in the public sector and 518,300 - in private.
Of the hired employees involved in the production spheres: 21.5 percent in industry, 5.9 percent in extracting, 6.2 percent in construction, 2.9 percent in agriculture, forestry and fishing, 24.5 percent in education, 19.8 percent in wholesale and retail trade, repair of automobiles, home wares and personal things, 9.7 percent in health and social services, 4.8 percent in transport, 4.1 percent - rendering other social and personal services, 0.8 percent - services related to real estate, rent, etc.
On June 1, 2012, the number of people who officially received the status of unemployed was 38,200, of whom 42.6 percent are women. Two people fall to one job in Azerbaijan. The average unemployment benefit in Azerbaijan is 207.4 manat.

As of June 1, 2012 the largest number of unemployed was registered in Baku (13,052 people, of which 841 people received unemployment benefits) and eighteen regions of Aran economic region (10,186 and 527 people respectively).
In May, the unemployment benefit in Azerbaijan increased by 1.2 percent compared to April.
Taking into account the consumer inflation per month (deflation by 0.9. percent), the actual amount of benefits increased by 2.1 percent.
As of June 1, 2012, the benefit was received by 2,507 people compared to 2,234 people as of May 1.
The average amount of unemployment benefits amounted to 207.4 manat as of June 1, 2012 compared to 205 manat as of May 1. By June 1, 2012, two unemployed claimed for one vacancy in Azerbaijan compared to three in January-April.
