The hostages held by saboteurs were freed during a special operation near the Dagestani section of the Georgian-Russian border, the Georgian Interior Ministry said today.

The details of the operation and the number of freed hostages have not been specified. There is no information whether all kidnapped were released or not.

The Georgian Interior Ministry is carrying out the operation to free the hostages and detain an armed group of saboteurs revealed near the border with Dagestan.

According to the information, a group of saboteurs who captured three groups of hostages consisting of civilians came through the border from Russia to Georgia. The group of hostages includes two or possibly three people.

There are also some wounded who were taken to hospital.
