Protest Action in font of Azerbaijani Embassy in Georgia

Georgia, Tbilisi / Тrend corr N. Kirtskhalia / A protest short action involving about 30 Orthodox believers and took place in Tbilisi in front of the Azerbaijani Embassy on 16 October.

The protest action was organized by 'Union of Orthodox Parents' NGO.

The participants protested against the shut down of St. George's Church in Azerbaijani Gakh region's Kurmukhi village, where local Georgians used to pray.

The protesters submitted a petition written in Georgian to the representatives of the Embassy, the First Secretary of the Azerbaijani Embassy, Elkhom Polukhov , said to Trend. "The petition is being translated now and it will be sent to Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry in near future," he said.

The protest action peacefully ended after submission of the petition.
