( DW ) - A former official in Chechnya's pro-Russian administration has been charged with involvement in last year's murder of Russian journalist Anna Politkovskaya. Russian news agencies report that Shamil Burayev, who was arrested in Moscow last week, has been charged with "complicity in murder as an accomplice". Politkovskaya, a high-profile Kremlin critic and investigative reporter, was shot dead outside her apartment in central Moscow on October 7 last year in what police said was a contract murder. Prosecutors alleged that Burayev had found out the journalist's address from a member of the FSB security service and passed it on to her killers. Burayev's lawyer said his client would be pleading not guilty to the charge.
