( RT ) - The Russian and U.S. navies have traded information on how to deal with threats on the high seas. Operation "Pacific Eagle" saw crews from both sides navigate mined waters, seize a trespassing ship and rescue a vessel in distress.

Last week's drills in the Sea of Japan were the largest joint naval exercises by the two sea giants in nine years.

Sailors from both sides paid tribute to the memory of the crews of the Soviet sub L-19 and the legendary USS Wahoo (SS-238). Both submarines sank during World War 2.

The next joint operations in the Pacific are penciled in for next year.
