Luke McCormick, goalkeeper for English second- flight club Plymouth Argyle, was on Sunday charged after two brothers died in a car crash, dpa reported.
Arron and Ben Peak, aged 10 and eight, died when the vehicle they were travelling in crashed with a Range Rover allegedly driven by McCormack in Staffordshire on the M6 on Saturday.
McCormick has been charged with two counts of causing death by dangerous driving, driving with excess alcohol and driving without insurance.
The boys' father, Philip, 37, is in hospital after suffering fractures to his neck and back, as well as broken ribs and bruised and swollen lungs.
His condition is described as serious.
