Blackburn striker Roque Santa Cruz ended speculation about
his future on Friday as he signed a new four-year deal, tying him to the club
until 2012.
There was speculation earlier that the 27-year-old Paraguay forward could
possibly move to Manchester City, while Manchester United and Arsenal had also
expressed interest.
Santa Cruz had seemed likely to follow manager Mark Hughes to Manchester City,
but having scored 23 goals last season, his decision will be a big boost to new
manager Paul Ince, dpa reported.
