A strong earthquake struck off Indonesia's Sumatra island on Sunday, but there was no tsunami warning issued, officials at the country's meteorology agency said.
"There are no reports of damage or injuries," Fauzi, head of the seismology centre at the agency, told Reuters.
"The quake was felt in Bukittinggi town, sending people rushing out of their homes."
The quake was a magnitude of 7.0 in the Kepuluan Mentawi area and at a depth of 50.8 km, the U.S. Geological Survey said on its website.
