Iran is continuing exploration drilling in water depth of 750 meters on Amir Kabir platform in the Caspian Sea, the head of Iran's North Drilling Company, Hedayatollah Khademi said, Shana reported.
According to Khademi, foreign companies are interested in developing cooperation and there is possibility of signing contracts with these companies for 10 years.
Earlier, Iranian deputy oil minister, CEO of National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC), Ahmed Galebani, said that Iran has held talks over signing contracts with several companies for exploration in the Iranian sector of the Caspian Sea. However, details and results of the talks will be published later.
According to Galebani, the premature publication of details could affect the negotiation process. "We can expect good news on the oil sector in the north of Iran."
The opportunities are being explored to establish an oil reservoir in the Mazandaran province on the Caspian Sea shore.
Meanwhile, Head of the Iranian Oil Company Khazar Mohammad Osuli said that the exploration work is ongoing on the Amir Kabir platform in the Caspian Sea, Mehr reported earlier.
According to Osuli, the company considers the possibility of establishing an oil reservoir in the Mazandaran province at the Caspian Sea coast.
The drilling work is underway on this platform for obtaining a full geological and geophysical data on hydrocarbon reserves and processing seismic data.
Osuli also noted the need to support the petroleum industry to localize the offshore activities in the sea sector. "Discovery of new hydrocarbon reserves in the Caspian Sea in the future will require expanding industries to carry out offshore operations."
