Two killed in crash of cargo plane off South Korean island
An Asiana Airlines cargo plane crashed Thursday into the sea off the South Korean island of Jeju, killing the two people on board, the Yonhap News Agency reported.
The crew had reported mechanical problems and was trying to fly to Jeju International Airport on the island off the southern tip of South Korea before the Boeing 744 disappeared from radar, Yonhap cited the coast guard as saying.
Remnants of the plane were found 107 kilometres west of Jeju City by a coast guard patrol boat, it said.
The plane had taken off from Incheon International Airport and was flying to Pudong, a district of Shanghai, DPA reported.
