Eurozone finance ministers have authorized a total of 49.1 billion euros (64 billion dollars) in bailout aid to be released to Greece, dpa reported.

A first tranche of 34.3 billion euros is to be disbursed "in the following days," with the rest to follow "in the first quarter of 2013," the ministers said in a joint statement.

Last week, the ministers had preliminarily agreed to a total of only 43.7 billion euros. The extra 5.4 billion euros were released on Thursday to help finance a debt buy-back programme being carried out by Athens, German Finance Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble said.
