An-2 plane crashed in the Stavropol region of Russia on Wednesday, and according to preliminary data, one person died, a source in the law enforcement agencies of the region told RIA Novosti over telephone.
"Presumably, there were two people on board. One of them died, the fate of the second person is as yet unknown," the source said.
He said the An-2 plane was engaged in spraying fields and crashed near the village of Chernolesskoe in the Novoselitsky district.
The AN-2 is a light transport plane. It is used by local airlines as a passenger and cargo aircraft.
Various accidents involving similar planes occur regularly in Russia.
