Baku, Azerbaijan, Nov. 26

Russia deployed its most modern S-400 anti-craft system in Syria, RIA Novosti reported Nov. 26.
Earlier, on Nov. 25, it was reported that Russian President Vladimir Putin approved the request by the Defence Ministry to place S-400 at the Hmeymim airbase.
The move comes in aftermath of downing of a Russian Su-24 bomber by a Turkish fighter jet. The Russian aircraft was involved in operations against the IS terrorist group (aka ISIL, ISIS, or Daesh) in Syria.
One of the Su-24 pilots was killed, while the other one was saved.
The S-400, together with the "Fort" complex on the "Moskva" missile cruiser, which arrived to Syria's shores, will ensure safety of sorties and destroy any target posing threat to Russian aircraft.
