Seoul plans to expand contacts in the sphere of cybersecurity at the international level, which includes Russia, South Korean Ambassador to Russia Woo Yoon-keun stated on Tuesday, Trend reports referring to TASS.

"Our [South Korean] government shares the opinion of the international community about the need to increase efforts in reaction to cyber threats, and in this regard, it has expanded its efforts at bilateral and unilateral levels in order to strengthen international cooperation in this area," he said. "The government of the Republic of Korea aims to resume close cooperation with other countries, including the Russian side, and is ready to cooperate in this area."

The ambassador reminded that since 2013, South Korea and Russia have held three rounds of cybersecurity talks, establishing a basis for cooperation in this sphere. "The latest round of bilateral consultations was held in Seoul in January of this year. Within this round, the Republic of Korea and Russia discussed cyber norms, measures on strengthening trust, as well as measures on growing the potential in the multilateral arena, including the UN," the diplomat noted.
