Ecuador’s national team has defeated Qatar 2-0 in the opening match of the 2022 FIFA World Cup, Trend reports citing TASS.
The game was played at the 60,000-seat capacity Al-Bayt Stadium on Sunday.
The goals were scored by Ecuador’s Enner Valencia (16th and 31st minutes). Valencia scored in the third minute of the game, but the goal was cancelled after the use of the visual assistant referee [VAR] system and cancelled it, since he was offside.
