By Orhan Guluzadeh - Trend:

Terrorist attacks in France are a response to military operations underway in Syria against the terrorist organization "Islamic State" (IS), according to Ermagan Kuloglu, a retired Turkish major general.

Speaking to Trend Nov. 14, Kuloglu said that, earlier, the IS terrorists repeatedly threatened a number of countries, including France and Russia.

Kuloglu added that further fighting against the IS will be determined based upon the risks that might arise as a result of anti-terrorist actions.

Numerous terrorist attacks were conducted in Paris on Nov. 13-14. Four gunmen systematically slaughtered at least 87 young people attending a rock concert at the Bataclan music hall.

Some 40 more people were killed in five other attacks in the Paris region, including an apparent double suicide bombing outside the national stadium where French president Hollande and German foreign minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier were watching a friendly soccer international.

Some 200 people were injured.

French President Francois Hollande today said 127 people died during the terrorist attacks in Paris. He also declared three days of mourning throughout the country.
