Over 40.2 million tons of petroleum products were transshipped via the Turkish ports in the first 8 months of 2021, the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of Turkey told Trend.
According to the ministry, in the specifying period, ships flying the Turkish flag transported 896,480 tons of petrochemicals through the Turkish port, and ships flying the flags of other countries – over 38.3 million tons.
“Meanwhile, 31.9 million tons of petrochemicals was shipped in transit via the Turkish ports,” the ministry added.
The ports of Turkey handled 253.4 million tons of cargo from January through August 2021.
During this period, cargo transportation by ships flying the flag of Turkey through domestic ports amounted to 20.1 million tons.
The volume of goods shipped through Turkish ports by ships flying the flags of other countries amounted to 233.2 million tons.
In addition, during the specified period, Turkish ports handled 50.2 million tons of cargo in transit, said the ministry.
Reportedly, in August 2021, the ports of Turkey as a whole handled 33.9 million tons of goods.
In the 8th month of this year, cargo transportation through domestic ports by ships flying the Turkish flag amounted to 2.57 million tons, while by ships flying the flags of other countries – 31.3 million tons. In his month Turkish ports handled 6.27 million tons of transit cargo.
