Egypt has permitted Iranian humanitarian ships to enter the Gaza Strip through the Suez Canal, the Turkish Haberturk website reported.

Cairo granted permission to let ships in the Suez Canal be towed into Gaza waters.

The Iranian Red Crescent Society sent three ships with humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, which is blockaded by Israel. Two ships with food, medicine and household utilities will bypass Israeli territory and deliver the aid to Gaza.

Earlier attempts by international humanitarian ships to deliver aid to Gaza were unsuccessful.

Israel attacked ships with humanitarian aid sailing to the Gaza Strip May 31. During the incident, 10 people were killed, many of whom were Turkish citizens.
