Kazakhstan and Ukraine will discuss cooperation prospects between the two countries during Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych's visit to Astana, a source at the Ukrainian Embassy in Astana told Trend today.

According to the preliminary data, the Ukrainian President will visit Kazakhstan on May 28-29.

During the visit, the president will take part in a meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council to be held in Astana on May 28-29 with the participation of the leaders of the Customs Union's countries.

"A meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council will be first held in a trilateral format of Russia, Kazakhstan, Belarus," the interlocutor said. "The leaders of Ukraine and perhaps Kyrgyzstan will also join."

It was previously reported that Kazakhstan, Russia and Belarus must sign an agreement on the Eurasian Economic Community in May 2014 and announce the establishment of the Eurasian Economic Union from 2015.

Official representatives have recently reiterated that Ukraine intends to gain observer status within the Customs Union.
