The Iranian Navy has successfully test-fired the Fajr-5 anti-submarine ground-sea torpedo on the fifth day of its military maneuvers in the country's southern waters, Infantry Troops Deputy Commander Kiyumars Heidari was quoted as saying by Fars.

Heidari said such long-range missile tests have been conducted for the first time.

The third phase of the Velayat 89 war games began Saturday in the Persian Gulf, Sea of Oman and the northern Indian Ocean, displaying the combat power of speed Iranian military boat units.

The naval exercises kicked off Wednesday just after the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps completed major war games in the Persian Gulf, Sea of Oman and the Strait of Hormuz.
