Annual trade between Iran and Afghanistan could reach $3 billion in the future, an official with Afghanistan Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
Mohsen Pakayeen added that the figure is currently around $2 billion, the Mehr news agency reported.
According to statistics, Iran accounts for 35-40 per cent of exports to Afghanistan, according to the IRIB.
Iran mainly exports pharmaceuticals, cement, iron and steel products, detergents and gasoline to Afghanistan.
Afghan Ambassador to Tehran Abidollah Abid said in March that annual trade between Tehran and Kabul could reach $6 billion.
