A militant wanted by the police for his affiliation with a group convicted of plotting attacks on US facilities in Germany has been killed in Pakistan, Press TV reported.
The 22-year-old Eric Breininger was killed on April 30 in an armed conflict between Pakistani troops and militants near Mir Ali town in Waziristan tribal region of Pakistan, German weekly Der Spiegel cited a statement by the Taliban-inspired Taifatul Mansura group.
In March 2008, Breininger told his sister in an e-mail that he was on the mountains of Pakistan and planned to travel to Afghanistan. He had appeared in several videos posted on the Internet and had tried to recruit new members in Germany.
Breininger underwent training in a camp in Waziristan. He was killed along with a Turkish terrorist identified as 'Salaheddin' in a battle with the Pakistani army forces.
German authorities believe Salaheddin is Ahmet M., who was deported to Turkey 10 years ago.
Breininger was initially a member of a terrorist group known as "the Sauerland cell," which was preparing to carry out bombing attacks on US targets in Germany in 2007. Three members of the group were arrested in the Saarland region of southwestern Germany in September 2007. They were sentenced to long prison terms in March 2010.
Breininger is the fourth German-born terrorist to have been killed in Pakistan's North Waziristan region bordering Afghanistan.
