Unknown gunmen in Pakistan's north-western region torched 16 tankers carrying fuel supplies for NATO troops in Afghanistan, local security officials said on Sunday, DPA reported.
The attack took place late Saturday when more than two dozens lorries were parked at a terminal in the Ring Road area of Peshawar, the capital of the north-western province of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.
Senior police officer Ijaz Khan said on Sunday that no one was killed in the attack. He said the investigations were being carried out to see if the attackers had planted a bomb to destroy the NATO tankers.
Khan refused to identify the attackers, but Taliban militants have conducted several dozens of attacks on NATO supply convoys across Pakistan.
NATO troops in landlocked Afghanistan heavily rely on the supply line running from Pakistan's southern port city of Karachi. The supply convoys enter into Afghanistan through the south-eastern border point of Chaman and the north-western Torkham border post.
