Azerbaijan, Baku, Dec. 29 / Trend H. Valiyev /

The European Nuclear Research Center will monitor the capacity of the communication channel linking a computing center of the Institute of Physics of the Azerbaijani National Academy of Sciences with the European Nuclear Research Center, the Institute told Trend on Friday.

This will be the last stage of the work. Afterwards, DATA-center of the Institute will be directly connected to the European Nuclear Research Center.

A minimum data transfer rate between the Institute of Physics and the European Nuclear Research Center must be 1 Gb / s, which is a requirement of the European Centre for Nuclear Research. Currently, the capacity of the communication channel is 45 Mbit / s. The DATA-center of the institute receives 25 Mbit / s, which covers the needs of the internal segment GRID.

Delta Telecom company will render data transmission services. The negotiations are underway.

The increase in the communication channel capacity will allow the institute's computing center to become a full member of the European distribution network represented within European Grid Infrastructure (EGI) project. It is one of the conditions for integrating Azerbaijani GRID-segment in "Atlas" project of the European Centre.

Currently, DATA-center's resources have been used for the needs of the Academy of Sciences, which are able to solve problems using internal GRID-segment.
