Italy Azerbaijan’s main trade partner

Between January and August 2015, Italy maintained its first place in the list of foreign trade partners of Azerbaijan with a trade turnover of $1.95 billion, accounting for 13.86 percent of the country’s total trade volume

Between January and August 2015, Italy maintained its first place in the list of foreign trade partners of Azerbaijan with a trade turnover of $1.95 billion, accounting for 13.86 percent of the country's total trade volume, according to a statistic report from Azerbaijani State Customs Committee (SCC).

The list of Azerbaijan's foreign trade partners, posted on the SCC website, further includes Germany with a turnover of $1.47 billion (10.45 percent), Russia - $1.2 billion (8.66 percent), Turkey - $954.66 million (6.78percent), the US - $905.1 million (6.43percent).

In August, Turkey came ahead of the US, as compared to July of the current year.

These countries' share in the total trade turnover of Azerbaijan was 46.18 percent.

Aside from that, in the reporting period, the largest volume of Azerbaijan's export accounted for Italy. In January-August, goods worth $1.64 billion were exported to this country, accounting for 20.06 percent of Azerbaijan's total export.

Leading places in exports are held by Germany ($993.5 million with a specific weight of 12.14 percent), France ($551.5 million or 6.74 percent), Israel ($536.4 million or 6.55 percent), and the Czech Republic ($401.15 million or 4.9 percent).

Between January and August 2015, the top five countries in terms of the largest import volumes included Russia ($978.18 million), which accounted for 16.58 percent of Azerbaijani imports.

Further on the list are: Turkey with a turnover of $742.4 million (12.58 percent), the US - $642.3 million (10.89 percent), Germany - $477.5 million (8.1 percent), and Japan - $367.8 million (6.24 percent).

In August, the list of Azerbaijan's top five import partners remained unchanged.

The share of these countries in total import in Azerbaijan is 54.39 percent.

Between January and August 2015, the foreign trade operations of Azerbaijan reduced by 32.83 percent to 14.08 billion Azerbaijani manats as compared to the same period of last year.

Export operations worth $8.18 billion were carried out in the reporting period, and Azerbaijan's imports stood at $5.9 billion.
