Italy took the first place in the list of Azerbaijan’s foreign trade partners with the trade turnover of $462.44 million in 1Q2016

Italy took the first place in the list of Azerbaijan's foreign trade partners with the trade turnover of $462.44 million in 1Q2016, said the State Customs Committee's (SCC) report posted on its website Apr. 18.

Some 12.82 percent of the total volume of Azerbaijan's trade operations accounted for Italy, according to the report.

Turkey with $257.01 million (7.13 percent), Russia - $252.31 million (seven percent), Germany - $248.68 million (6.9 percent) and France - $233.13 million (6.46 percent) are following Italy, said the report.

The share of these countries in Azerbaijan's total trade turnover is 40.31 percent.

The major part of Azerbaijan's export also accounted for Italy during the reporting period. Azerbaijan exported to Italy goods worth $368 million (20.67 percent of the total volume of Azerbaijan's export) in 1Q2016.

Meanwhile, leading positions are taken by France ($200.89 million with specific weight of 11.28 percent), Germany ($172.07 million with specific weight of 9.66 percent), the Czech Republic ($127.97 million and 7.19 percent) and Georgia ($117.54 million and 6.6 percent).

These countries' share is 55.4 percent in Azerbaijan's total export volume.

Russia took the first place among five countries for the largest volume of import ($206.17 million) to Azerbaijan in January-March 2016. Some 11.29 percent of Azerbaijan's import accounted for this country.

Turkey with $197.99 million (10.84 percent), Singapore - $172.32 million (9.44 percent), the UK - $140.82 million (7.71 percent) and the US - $136.49 million (7.47 percent) are following Russia.

The specific weight of these countries is 46.75 percent in Azerbaijan's total import volume, according to the report.

Azerbaijan's foreign trade turnover with 140 countries amounted to $3.61 billion during the 1Q2016, which is by 37.98 percent less than during the same period of 2015, said the report.

The country's export totaled $1.78 billion and import - $1.83 billion in January-March 2016, according to the report.
