BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 15. Vortex Tools views Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan as potential valuable partners on oil and gas production market, the company's president Alan Miller told Trend.

He noted that currently Vortex Tools, a US oil and gas sector optimization company, has ongoing negotiations with national and international energy companies in Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan.

"Vortex surface tools are used to recover more natural gas liquids/condensates; to reduce (or even eliminate) freeze-ups, paraffin build-up, and pigging; and to reduce pressures and slugging. Vortex downhole tools extend the life of the well, reduce chemical and surfactant use, and, if the well has more to give, can increase production," he said.

The use of new equipment at gas wells can potentially reduce chemical use by as much as 50 percent, which allows for reduction of costs, while maximizing production efficiency, Miller said.

Azerbaijani Energy Ministry’s data has shown that Azerbaijan produced 32.2 bcm of natural gas from January through August 2023, recording an increase of 5 percent, or 1.5 bcm, year-on-year.

In turn, gas production in Uzbekistan from January through May 2023 amounted to 22 bcm, with a decrease of 10 percent (2.1 bcm) year-on-year. As evident from data by Uzbekistan’s Statistical Committee, the country's gas condensate production in the reporting period also declined by 8 percent, or 44,500 tons, compared to the first five months of 2022 (555,300 tons), and amounted to 510,800 tons.
