BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 8. The United Kingdom, which is one of the countries that buys Azerbaijani mineral fertilizers, may share its knowledge of excellent soil resource management with Azerbaijan, Trend reports.
This viewpoint was discussed on December 7 in Baku during the VI session of the intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation between the Republic of Azerbaijan, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
The parties highlighted prospects for collaboration in Agri-Tech innovation to assist the sector's ongoing modernization, such as soil analysis, supply chain data management, fertiliser/pesticide use, irrigation, UAVs and smart farms, and the application of bio- and nanotechnologies.
In terms of livestock production, Azerbaijan is interested in the United Kingdom's expertise with sustainable dairy farming and dairy processing.
The Azerbaijan Food Safety Agency is interested in working with the United Kingdom's Department for Environment, Food, and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) to secure Export Health Certificates for farm animals.
Baku also conducted a preliminary debate on the feasibility of establishing a private sector laboratory in Azerbaijan to undertake genetic studies and genome evaluation.
