The CIS mission has been engaged in monitoring in Azerbaijan since October 14, Sergey Lebedev, the head of the CIS observation mission, the CIS executive secretary, told Trend Nov. 1.

"In general, the observers have a positive impression of the preparation for the election," he said.

"All organizations, involved in the preparation for the election, are ready for it," he said. "I have talked to the colleagues. Most of them went to the opening of the polling stations. The situation is quiet. The members of the electoral commissions and the polling stations are ready to receive voters."

"According to the observations, great preparatory work has been conducted in Azerbaijan," he said, adding that this is a guarantee that the election will be held properly and quietly.

The parliamentary election is being held in Azerbaijan Nov. 1.

Some 503 international observers from 40 organizations and over 66,000 local observers monitor the parliamentary election in Azerbaijan.

Some 767 candidates claim for 125 seats in the Azerbaijani parliament.
