Four dead in helicopter crash in West Siberia
( RIA Novosti ) - Four bodies and the wreckage of a foreign-made helicopter have been found in the Kemerovo Region in West Siberia, a spokesman for the regional emergency service said on Sunday.
"An MD-600 helicopter was found by a forester at around 09:00 a.m. Moscow time (05:00 a.m. GMT) on October 21 in the Tashtagolsky district about 400 kilometers ( 248 miles) south of Kemerovo. The bodies of four dead persons were found near the wreckage," the spokesman said.
Rescuers are working at the scene of the tragedy to indentify the victims and investigate the circumstances of the crash, the spokesman said.
According to preliminary information, the helicopter went down after unauthorized take-off. The helicopter's flight was delayed due to severe weather conditions, the spokesman said.
