Heavy rains, which began around 19:00 on Sept. 20 in the city of Mashhad and its surrounding towns, turned into mudslides. According to preliminary information, six people died, Iranian television website quoted, the head of the emergency situations organization of the Iranian Khorasan province, Rezevi Javad Urfanian, as saying.
Urfanian said the flooding in the province have caused serious damage to the road maintenance, cultivated areas and homes. Rescue work continues. There is not any exact report casualties.
