A downpour, which began on the evening of Sept. 20, flooded located the Lajat, Marajan, Alekseyevka, Godakli, Chinartala, Pardigiran and Uzunoba villages in the Azerbaijani northern region of Khachmaz. Traffic on the Gandob-Yalama road, passing through the Marajan village, is difficult.
Sunday's rains severely affected the Hajigabul, Neftchala regions of Azerbaijan and the city of Shirvan.
Heavy rain has flooded a part of the Baku-Gazakh highway, passing through the Navahi village of the Hajigabul region. There were traffic jams. Serious damage was caused to the Navahi, Gubali, Baloglan, Ranjbar and Pirsaat villages. The natural disaster flooded 60-70 percent of the Hajigabul region center.
Because of the threat of the collapse, the residents of some villages have fled their homes, women and children were evacuated to safer places.
In some villages of the region, power poles knocked down, homes were flooded, cracks formed in some buildings. Serious damage was caused cattle farming. In the Lajat village, a residential house razed, cracks appeared in the walls of many buildings.
Employees of the Emergency Situations Ministry and people are pumping water in the courtyards. Due to lasting rains, houses in some villages are under threat of flooding.
